Applied Plastics announces new website, online store

Leading provider of PTFE coated catheter components unveils large-scale rebranding

NORWOOD, Mass. – Feb. 11, 2020 – Applied Plastics LLC, a Vance Street Capital portfolio company, announces a complete rebranding to improve its customer interface and support its continued growth as a leading supplier of PTFE coated products for use in the design and manufacture of advanced catheter systems. The rebranding includes a new website, online store and a refreshed brand identity.

“Over the last year, we have focused on enhancing the customer experience,” CEO of Applied Plastics Thomas Barrett said. “It is exciting to now be able to ship PTFE Natural® coated mandrels and wire within 24 hours to meet R&D engineers’ accelerated development timelines.”

Applied Plastic’s new website boasts an intuitive and informative user experience. Visitors to the site can easily navigate the company’s coating capabilities. An all-new online store features a user-friendly shopping interface where customers can select their desired coated diameter and quantity, then use the online shopping cart for a quick checkout. The interface allows for users to filter by coated outside diameter.

Through the website, users can also learn more about Applied Plastics’ PTFE Natural® process, which delivers an exceptionally lubricious and robust coating that provides catheter engineers with high-performance characteristics that can enable the development of innovative access, delivery and closure devices.

Last January, Applied Plastics was acquired by Vance Street Capital, a middle-market private equity firm focused on investing in highly engineered solutions businesses across the medical industry. Barrett explained that this has been fuel for many of Applied Plastics’ recent investments.

“Through our partnership with Vance Street, we have already made investments in a number of areas, including adding personnel in customer service, quality and manufacturing in order to continue to invest in additional coating capacity,” Barrett said. “We are excited to share the progress we have made to date.”

Applied Plastics plans to debut their new look and online PTFE Natural® mandrel store at the MD&M West Trade Show in Anaheim, California from February 11 to 13. Experts from the company will be available onsite. To make an appointment, call, email, or stop by booth No. 1909 during the show.

Superior medical devices require superior coatings.

Our proprietary PTFE Natural® coated mandrels offer unmatched benefits.

low-co-friction

Low Coefficient of Friction

PTFE Natural® coatings provide a coefficient of friction generally in the range of 0.05 to 0.20, depending on the load and sliding speed.

heat-resistance

HEAT-RESISTANCE

PTFE Natural® coatings can operate continuously at temperatures up to 550°F and can be used for intermittent service up to 600°F with adequate ventilation.

non-stick

Non-Stick

Non-Stick Very few solid substances will permanently adhere to a PTFE Natural® coating. While tacky materials may show some adhesion, almost all substances release easily.

chemical-resistance

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Chemical environments usually do not affect a PTFE Natural® coating. Only molten alkali metals and highly reactive fluorinating agents are known to affect this coating.

robust-coating

ROBUST COATING

The proprietary PTFE Natural™ coating process enhances the substrate bonding surface to provide optimum lubricity without flaking or cracking.

non-wetting

NON-WETTING

Since PTFE Natural® finishes are both hydrophobic and oleophobic, cleanup is easier and more thorough.
